We are Ragamuffs!
Hello everyone! We are Ragamuffs. A 4-piece indie rock/pop band from Honolulu, Hawaii founded by myself, Hailey Fines (guitar/vocals) and my other half, Joseph Carag (guitar/vocals). Our live band consists of our friends Landan Tolentino (bass guitar) and Locke Nishihara (drums).
Joseph and I met in church through a family ministry when we were little kids. Over the years, we both became active members in the community and spent a lot of time playing music for our church band. Outside of church, we bonded over the same indie musical influences and were driven to perform more and share covers of our favorite songs. In 2016, we formed an acoustic folk duo called, Sir Ragamuffin and The Lady. As our musical projects progressed, we went from performing at family events and community parties to open mics and consistent gigs around the local music scene. In 2017, we became known as Ragamuffs, adding friends on the bass guitar and drums, while writing original music. We met Landan as we played more and more shows around Hawaii. He always wore nice sweaters and also helped us put on our first show as, Ragamuffs, through his company Huikau Club. We later met Locke after stalking her famous drum videos on instagram (shutuplocke) and through a mutual friend, John Sabugo.
The overwhelming amount of love and support for our live shows and first released single, Lainey Lainey, pushed us to release our first 7-song album, “Achy Luminescence,” in August of 2019. This was made possible thanks to our Kickstarter backers! (THANK YOU ALL!) Around the same time, we also went on our first 10 show tour in California playing venues such as The Moroccan Lounge and Hotel Cafe.
2020 is Looking Up:
Since then, we have been working hard to take all the positive energy from everyone and turn our musical hobby into a career. Recently, we played our first show at a famous concert venue in Hawaii called, The Republik, opening for a sold-out Mac DeMarco show!
In the same week, on January 19, we received the most exciting news of our musical career. We have been selected as an Official South By Southwest (SXSW) 2020 Artist to perform in Austin, Texas. CHEERS TO OUR FIRST MUSIC FESTIVAL EVER!
SXSW: ( https://schedule.sxsw.com/2020/artists/2024486 for more info)
SXSW is one of the world’s largest festivals and conferences combining film, music and interactive events happening all week from March 13 - 23, 2020. This is the stepping stone towards the musical career we have been praying for. Not only is this a great opportunity to expose our original songs to a larger audience, but it is a chance to network with music industry professionals that could potentially enable us to further our music on an even larger scale beyond Hawaii.
Guys. This is a big deal...not to mention, we will be performing on the same line up as many of our favorite indie artists!

Aren’t they paying for your expenses? Why do you need money?
Music ain't the most glamorous lifestyle.
To be blunt, although SXSW is providing us with a great opportunity and access into the festival, we still need to pay for our own flights, check-in luggage, accommodations, food, and gear rentals for our entire band and team. There is no way we could have made it this far without the help of others, especially those listed below:
- Landan Tolentino our bass player
- Locke Nishihara our drummer
- Kaedy Hatchett our tour manager / head honcho coordinating the logistics
- Caelan Barut our hype man and best friend that will be housing us all
In total, that is 6 people (including ourselves) we need to get from Hawaii to Austin, Texas.
(Landan, Locke, Hailey, Joseph)
(Kaedy, Caelan)

THANK YOU ALL!
March is coming up fast and being that we just found out about SXSW in January, it doesn't give us much time to plan and prepare as we had hoped. We are so thankful for your continuous support for our musical projects. You are the reason our dreams are coming to life and the reason we are all able to continue making music!
We absolutely love and appreciate you and hope to inspire you to invest in the things that make you happy.
With donations, you will also receive the following!
