Help Raheleh Amiri save her eye and become independent
My name is Pamela. I created this fundraiser to help a woman who is in Italy for medical attention. She visited me in Venice when she first arrived - I was impressed by her courage but also felt her sadness, desperation and fear - it was clear that recent and current events in her country have forever affected her, her family and her friends.
Raheleh Amiri, born in Kahnooj, Iran, on 08/31/1991, was the victim of an attack perpetrated by security forces on peaceful protesters grouped near Kerman on 11/15/2022. Raheleh was shot by a Basiji paramilitary from a distance of 6-8 feet - she was hit by a bullet as her and a group of women were walking along the street. In pain and bleeding, she ran for her life for fear of being taken away by regime forces. The wound caused the loss of vision in her right eye.
Raheleh is one of the symbols of the revolution known by the name "Woman, Life, Freedom".
Thanks to a medical visa she was able to reach Italy where she is being seen by specialists. She does not speak Italian or English. She is alone, depending entirely on interpreters and the kindness of strangers. She needs financial help in order to pay medical bills, transportation, rent, food and language lessons.
Thank you to Mark Edward Smith and Matteo de Mayda who both photographed Raheleh in Venice. Thank you for your time, your energy and your compassion.
