Raigmore Intensive Care Unit
Donation protected
On the 26th April me and my brother John would like to do something special for the intensive care unit in Raigmore by doing a skydive and raising money. ICU looked after our brother Liam after he took his own life. Liam was cared for here for 5 days but sadly his life support had to be switched off. During this time ICU and their staff were immensely compassionate, understanding and supportive in all ways and truly went above and beyond for both Liam and our family. By raising money by skydiving 10000 feet we are hoping this money will support ICU in any way they need it, to help support other families, staff and the ward itself and to show a huge gratitude of my family and I for all their support and kindness.
when Liam's life support was switched off our family came to the decision to donate 3 of his organs as we know he would help anyone out if he was given the chance. Liam donated his 2 kidneys and his liver and stopped 3 families going through the pain we went through of grief.
Liam was 25 years old when he sadly took his own life. It was the biggest shock to our family. Liam was always full of laughter and he was the most caring young man anyone could know. we are hoping that by doing something like this we can raise awareness for men's mental health and encourage young men who are struggling that its okay to speak out about how they are feeling and that they are not alone. Too many young men have taken their lives and its heart breaking and more support needs to be shown. Any amount of support shown to this post would be much appreciated.
