IMECHE RAILWAY CHALLENGE IN ENGLAND
Donation protected
My name is Noah Weiss and my partner traveling with me to the University of Birmingham in England is Mick Mohr. Mick and myself are finishing up a wireles power transfer charging system applied to a 1/8 scale locomotive. This is our Senior Design project at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Due to our continued successes in this project, our professors and mentors have asked Mick and I to participate in the International Mechanical Engineering Society Railway Challenge. We will be teaming up with the University of Birmingham team just after our graduation on May 12th then returning the first week of July. We will be assiting in the design and fabrication of a hydrogen fuel cell locomotive to compete in the railway challenge. Last year's collaborative team took second place and we hope to take first this year! We can't express enough what an amazing opportunity this is for our academic growth and we are thankful to our mentors and UNCC College of Engineering for facilitating so much. The mentors will cover most all of our primary expenses however there will be miscellaneous costs and expenses due to food, travel, and the expenses of our lives left behind here in the states. As well we must purchase/update our passports, pay for International health insurance and pay a fee to the University of North Carolina Charlotte Office of International Students. We have worked very hard for this opportunity and hope that we will be met with support from all of our friends, family, mentors, and those that believe in seizing the opportunity to expand our horizons. Check in with us as we upload new pictures and videos of our progress with our senior design locomotive and the locomotive to be presented for the IMECHE railway challenge.
