Cryopreservation before Chemotherapy for Christine
Christine’s 2nd cancer battle requires IVF, Insurance doesn’t cover.
This is my Christine’s second battle with cancer. At the young age of 21, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma just a year after the passing of her father and grandmother Eva and still beat c****r. Christine has been diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for a 2nd time at the age of 34. Christine is currently in school to achieve her nursing degree in the hope to give back to others. Her state insurance will not cover Cryopreservation (freezing embryos or eggs) which is required for cancer patients in Christine’s case and must happen before starting chemotherapy, radiation, and undergoing a bone marrow transplant.
The doctor is giving us a 3-week window to start Cryopreservation before Christine starts chemotherapy for a 2nd time, 13 years later. The fertility clinic requires her to have all funds upfront and the oncologist said this opportunity is now or never! With a week to come up with the funds we are praying for a miracle. The process is difficult and extensive from procedure costs, medications and storage fees. I had never met anyone as deserving, strong, selfless, loving, and full of faith until I met Christine. Her humility is humbling and her eagerness to share her time and faith with others is incredible. This “beautiful person” needs your help and I need your help too.
Being in radio for 15 years, I was always asked to help spread the word for various causes. When I was still on-air, I always thought about what those people must be going through and how in need of help they were to have to go public. Well, now I know the feeling. I want her to be able to look forward to starting a family and have the security of knowing that it’s an option. My love is fighting for more than just freezing embryos she is fighting for her life, once again.
If anyone in this world deserves to be a mother, it’s my Christine. With Mother’s Day & her birthday around the corner, this truly would be the greatest gift of all; not only to her but to one day be able to make her mom, Carolyn, a grandmother. We also must do everything possible to make sure she gets the same opportunity to raise her very own children with the life lessons her late father, Derrick, and grandfather, Robert, taught her. I love all the stories.
A chance to bring life into this world while fighting for her own. Crazy to say right? Giving full disclosure of me having a daughter and an ongoing custody battle, she still decided to be by my side. Thank you God! Christine took it upon herself to help me design my daughters’ room by simply asking for some 808 love and you can ask me about this sometime. What was turning into a time of uncertainty in getting my daughter on my own time turned into a time of readiness and excitement. Christine made me understand what “parenting by preparation” means. Honestly, what Christine gave me in such a short amount of time, you couldn’t ask for or pay for.
The only thing you could do is pray for help like that. God didn’t just answer that prayer for help, he honestly gave me help in the form of an angel. You would think my Christine had raised kids of her own already when you see her passion towards a child that isn’t even her own. It really is and has been a beautiful thing to see.
I will not stop fighting for Christine Angela to have this chance at being a mother and to all of Christine’s family & friends, I know we haven’t all met yet, but please be strong for our Christine Angela and I hope to meet you all soon. To all of my family & friends, I know you all haven’t met her yet, but if you saw her & Gibo (my dad) together and how she is with my daughter Katia it's amazing. Garcia fam I ask you for all your help.
We love you all and thank you in advance for any love you send our way. No amount is to small and we are beyond grateful for.
Thank You,
Christine & Andrew

Also, once Christine beats cancer this 2nd time who’s ready to take on some insurance companies to understand why this isn’t covered for female cancer patients under the age of 35 with no previous kids.
