Raise awareness for Dementia and Alzheimers

My grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the end of 2021. Her condition has rapidly deteriorated over the last year to the point where she is in a 24 hour care facility. Having to watch her deteriorate so quickly was devastating, not only for me, but everyone around her. The affect it has had on my parents was incredibly large too. My parents had to take time off work and and also had to spend time around work looking after her as she was unable to be by herself like she previously was. Having to see her change in ways that were beyond her control is absolutely heartbreaking and nobody should have to go through this. I would love to raise money and awareness for people with Alzheimer’s because I believe that nobody truly understands the devastating effect of Alzheimer’s unless you have been through it yourself. The amount of work carers go through trying to help my grandma and other people like her is incredible and without carers like them, life for people with Alzheimer’s (and their family members) would be completely different. Being able to challenge myself by running a marathon and to be able to do it in honour of / for my grandma would mean the world.
