Raise Funding for George’s Den.
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Craig. In July of last year the world suffered a great loss as my son George, aged 13, lost his life to Leukemia. George was so amazing and unique and a huge part of the community of his home town Mossley. He is greatly missed by family and friends. In recent months the 1st Mossley Scout Group, a group that George was a huge part of, had the idea to create a new sort of provision for teenagers. A charity focussing on what is important to young people. The charity will hopefully develop a big online presence and will be aiming to provide pop up sessions in various locations, offering one off events such as gaming, art, drama and more. It will also have a headquarters in the basement of Baden House, Mossley (the Scout building). The headquarters will be a “safe space” for teenagers. It will feature a snug and a pool table amongst other entertainment for the teenagers. I was overcome with emotion when I learned that the name of the new charity was to be “George’s Den”, in honour of my gorgeous boy.
Currently the headquarters looks like, well it looks like a mouldy basement, but the potential is HUGE. Other fund raising events have already, successfully, taken place, works have commenced in Baden House and George’s Den is, in the next week or so, to become an official registered charity. Whilst I haven’t had any hands on involvement in the set up or thought process behind this charity, I would love to show my support by raising funds for the cause. I know George would have been overwhelmed by the whole idea and it’s potential.
In order to raise funds to support the construction of the HQ for George’s Den I am going to be taking part in the David Goggins 4 x 4 x 48 challenge. The challenge will take place on the first weekend of March. Starting with running 4 miles at 4am on Saturday 5th March, I will successfully complete the challenge by continuing to run 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours. This means that over the 48 hour period I will be running a total of 48 miles, with very little or broken sleep. I would not attempt this challenge if not for a very good reason. I like to think of myself as a fairly avid runner, but this challenge genuinely intimidates me and I am doing it purely to raise as much funding as I can for George’s Den, because both the idea and the name touched my heart.
Any donations will be greatly received and also if anyone wishes to jump onboard the challenge with me and raise their own funds, that would be fantastic too. The 4 x 4 x 48 can be ran anywhere in the world, so long as the correct distance is ran at the correct times. For more information on the 4 x 4 x 48 you can use Google.
Thank you for taking the time to read this Go Fund Me Post and God bless you.
