Raising funds for a Thermal Drone for Bedfordshire
Donation protected
On Wednesday, 20th December 2023, Ulysse, the Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla, from Bedfordshire, was spooked on a dog walk and bolted 3 miles in 7 minutes, he was still wearing a Flexi tape retractable lead.
Ulysse is an eleven month old dog from rural France with little socialisation. 12 long searching days and 11 sleepless nights entailed until New Years Eve when the owners were blessed with the news that Ulysse had been found!
It sounds like a magical Christmas story, and believe me with so many ups and downs it really was, and it ended with Ulysse being reunited with his family. A true New Year miracle.
This couldn't and wouldn't have happened if it were not for an all weather Thermal Drone and the expertise from some great people and charities. Canine Capture UK CIC with their invaluable skills, plotting and pinning areas on maps where they predicted Ulysse could be, and Drone to Home who traveled from Nottinghamshire on New Years Eve and within 3 hours using the information from Canine Capture UK CIC and their own experiences found Ulysse deep within a hedgerow with his Flexi lead tangled and twisted around the branches. If it had been a few hours later, this story really would have had a very different ending.
You are probably asking why it took so long to get a Thermal Drone up in the air to search for this boy? There are not that many people who can afford them! You need a license and sometimes have to have permission to fly areas. A Thermal Drone that is able to be flown in rain and wind does not come cheap!
So with that all in mind we are fundraising to have a Thermal Drone available in the county of Bedfordshire, where Ulysse went missing. Piloted by a person who is currently undergoing their license right now.
Thermal Drones are not cheap, however, as this story has shown, an absolutely invaluable piece of kit to find missing dogs and much much more.
Here is the moment that Ulysse was found. Drones save lives!
