Raising funds for Moving Beyond Limits

Hi everyone,

As some of you may know, I am participating in the Mallorca 70.3 Ironman on 11 May 2024 and as part of it, I want to promote the mission of Moving Beyond Limits, a Dutch charity that my cousin works with and is personally reliant on in many aspects.

My cousin, Tim, is physically disabled and in a wheelchair since birth. We have spent a lot of time together over the years and I have always been astonished by his resilience and positivity notwithstanding his physical limitations.

It is the mission of Moving Beyond Limits foundation to make travel and nature more accessible to everyone with physical disabilities. Through nature-based projects, adventurous travel programs, and accessible mobility advice, they aim to enable people of all ages to embark on journeys.

Most wheelchair accessible hiking trails anywhere in the world are only a few kilometres, mostly on even or paved terrain. Moving Beyond Limits want to prove that with the right all-terrain wheelchairs, planning and facilities, you can (almost) go anywhere.

In May, Expedition Pieterpad begins. Alongside ten hikers with various physical disabilities, Moving Beyond Limits will explore the 26 stages of the Pieterpad, assessing accessibility. Covering over 500 kilometres from Pieterburen to St. Pietersberg, the longest trail in the Netherlands, they are on their way to creating Europe's first wheelchair-friendly long-distance trail.
