Siri's Emergency Family Fundraiser.

Dearest community,

I am putting this fundraiser together for our beloved mother daughter duo: Siri Imani and Jennie Wright, who have relentlessly poured into us year after year. It is our turn to come together and pour into them.

Siri Imani is a warrior, a survivor and an individual that puts in her entire self into uplifting our communities. Over the years, her along with TRIIIBE have brought Potluck for the People where those experiencing homelessness come to eat, Raising the Bars at the Public Library where young kids are taught to find their expression through word, and being the leading voice in the many mobilized movements that have taken place in our city over the years. Not to mention the safe spaces she's opened up over the years for so many young poets to express themselves.

A chunk of her income comes from gigs and performances, and the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on our artist family. Also, Black women are often overworked and underpaid, and unfortunately it is no different in Cincinnati.

Siri gets her strength, her spark and her passion from her beautiful mother Jennie. Jennie, much like Siri, has been a rock in our community for years. Bringing us her wisdom, opening up experiences like "Sankofa" and being an eminent voice in the Cincinnati poetry world for years.  This past week, Jennie has unfortunately been in hospital. The right side of her heart is failing due to the blockages in her lungs. In order to heal she needs to go through some really painful procedures, and start a medication regime.  She is also going to require rest.

Siri's grandmother is also dealing with lung cancer.  With a significant reduction in income,  and astronomical health care costs, we need to all come together and raise at least 15,000-20,000 by the end of the month to pay for the plethora of medical bills from the extended hospital stay, rent and food. Siri's family needs a break, given the immune compromised situations of her mom and grandmother, Siri needs to be able to stay home to take care of them.  They need to heal and recover.

They have come through for us year after year, please do consider opening your hearts and giving whatever you are financially able to. Any amount helps.

On behalf of Siri and her family,
Thank you very much.
