Raise funds for the Dental Wellness Trust and Foundation

The Dental Wellness Trust and the Dental Wellness Foundation provides free dental care, education, and hygiene support for children and adults who would otherwise go without. Their programs reach communities in the UK, South Africa, and beyond, providing essential dental hygiene training, resources, and support for those who need it most.

In my role as public health manager for children and families and Luton Borough Council, I work closely with Dental Wellness Trust to help reduce inequalities within oral health and promote oral health education and their LiveSmart supervised toothbrushing programme. I have helped expand the programme in Luton from 2 settings to 29 since I began in my role at the beginning of 2023.

I have been given the wonderful opportunity to join the charity at their February international outreach I would love to go to Cape Town, South Africa for this outreach in schools there to give back to the charity with my time and expertise in early years teaching. Like in the UK, these dental outreaches involve dental screening and fluoride varnish in schools, but also emergency treatment for those children that need it. I’ll be able to support the charity at the outreaches by educating the children and helping to raise more awareness around oral health to teachers and parents.
