Row-Off for NATIONAL GAUCHER FOUNDATION OF CANADA.
On Saturday, April 26th at 12:30 pm at the UFIT Gym, SPINCO Kingston will be part of the Third Annual Battle of the GYMS to raise funds for the NATIONAL GAUCHER FOUNDATION OF CANADA.
This year's foundation is close to the years of many Kingstonians and is in support of Ryan Read.
Ryan Read was diagnosed with Gaucher Disease Type 2/3 at only 3 weeks old - a rare genetic condition that causes the accumulation of certain fats within the body. Over time, these fats can damage the spleen, liver, bone marrow, and brain, for which there is no effective treatment. Initially, Ryan was diagnosed with a very severe form of the disease and was given just 2 years to live - but with the help from experts around the world, experimental drug therapies, and a sheer miracle, Ryan will be celebrating her 4th birthday in June. The NGFC has helped Ryan’s family with emotional and financial support to give her every opportunity to live a long and healthy life. Your support for this foundation will help individuals and families like Ryan’s across the country manage the burden of this rare disease.
The National Gaucher Foundation of Canada (NGFC) is a voluntary group of individuals, families, health professionals, and affiliated organizations. They are committed to improving the health and well-being of Canadian Gaucher patients through community building, education, advocacy, and research support.
The local gyms participating will each be rowing 12,000 meters (EEK) with teams of four. Each team will be fundraising for the National Gaucher Foundation of Canada at their local gyms. We truly believe our community is stronger together.
We’re looking forward to a fun and challenging day with our Kingston Community!
We hope you are able to donate or come out and support our team!
