Raise funds to commemorate our 40th anniversary!
In May 1984, Roland Smith put a card in the post office in Winkleigh (a small village in mid-Devon) suggesting the formation of a choir to sing madrigals and part songs for pleasure. They held their first concert of Christmas music, by then known as The Winkleigh Singers, on 8th December 1984. Forty years on The Winkleigh Singers are still making music in rural north and mid-Devon under Roland's leadership and musical direction.
To celebrate our fortieth anniversary, the choir is commissioning a new work for Christmas from composer Alison Willis (www.alisonwillis.com) for performance at Christmastide next year. The project is planned to start with a workshop early in the new year to bring the composer and choir together. To achieve this, we would like to reach our target by the end of December 2023. We already have a substantial anonymous donation to start the ball rolling but need more to commission a significant piece of new music.
Please help by donating as much or as little as you can. Our website is www.winkleighsingers.org.uk where you can find out more about us. We are a registered charity.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
