My brother Thomas Page, at the age of 29 years old was diagnosed in January 2024 with testicular cancer after being kicked in the crotch by a cow!
February 6th 2024 - Tom underwent a procedure to remove the cancerous testicle. Following the surgery tom then underwent chemotherapy from March to June 2024, he developed sepsis on this fourth cycle consequently making day to day life a real struggle but Tom being Tom fought it without complaint.
Towards the end of June we were informed that the cancer had developed in the lymph nodes located by his abdomen, and he developed multiple liver lesions, therefore would have to have another cycle of chemotherapy to reduce the tumour enough to be surgically removed.
September 2024- Following further chemotherapy we were informed that it had been unsuccessful in shrinking the tumour.
November 1st 2024 - Tom then had to go through yet another cycle of stronger chemotherapy up until Christmas, again didn't seem to attack the cancer as we hoped it would. After having another scan to look at the progress of the cancer, we received a referral from St Bartholomew’s hospital in London saying that Tom would under go stem cell treatment and more chemotherapy.
February 2025 - St Bartholomew’s harvest stem cells in order for the next treatment to commence. Within this second cycle of chemotherapy Tom developed sepsis, again, which meant he had to fight the sepsis before returning for more chemotherapy which has bought us to recent events...
Illness isn't something Tom is used to, neither is sitting still having been bought up on our family tenant farm, Tom truly meets the stereotype of
the over worked under paid farmer. Working and learning closely from his father Basil they also provide an agricultural contracting service, which understandably has been put under strain with the unavoidable absence of Tom. This has taken a significant mental toll on Tom going from being an imperative part of the family business to not being able to physically help at all, this being said he still answers the phone to customers and lorry drivers trying to take some of the strain and keep some sort of involvement whilst going through all hes having to deal with.
Throughout the journey Toms mindset hasn't faulted away from the farm and keeping the wheels turning amongst checking in with
local farmers and friends always thinking of others wellbeing over his own.
Toms diagnosis has hit us all especially hard after our mum sadly lost her long battle with cancer in 2017. Never did we/I think we would have to go through something similar as family again after that, but it seems we are to be tested yet again.
March 2025- We have been informed devastatingly that Tom has now been given a timeline on his life expectancy. We refuse to accept that this is it for him, it simply cannot be for such a hardworking young man to be subjected to such a short life expectancy.
Together with close friends we are looking at alternative treatments that will work alongside the conventional route of treatment
currently being undertaken to battle this disease. We have reached hard and have strong reason to believe these alternative treatments will stunt and kill the cancer that's killing Tom.
Unfortunately the less conventional treatments/procedures that are not so much backed or supported by the FDA or NHS, but these other options are seeming to have REAL results on REAL people! We, as a collective, are positive looking forward, we are now in contact and having the conversations with the medical experts that could help!
This has led us to set up this GoFundMe page. We plead with anyone and everyone for critical donations, whether you know Tom personally or just reading his story and would like to help fund these expensive for his vital procedures, and also to help myself, Katherine (Toms sister) and our family, with the constant care he now needs and travel expenses we have to fund.
We are simply refusing to give up on Tom and believe there are treatments and procedures out there that will work, but we've now come to terms we cannot do any of this without outside help as we has exhausted all funds and resources, we had to fight this on our own.
Anything that can be donated big or small will be more than greatly appreciated and go towards saving a young farmers life!
We will be documenting all procedures/treatments/medicines that we decide to use and informing everyone of Toms progressthroughout this horrific journey. Not only just for Toms sake but for every person in this situation not knowing where to turn when the conventionaltreatment route just simply isn't working. By this we hope the information we can gather and broadcast wont only save my brother’s life but also your loved ones who may be battling this horrible disease.
We are totally overwhelmed by all the support in such a should period of time!
Myself and Brad will be keeping you all up to date on what the treatments e.g cost and where the money is going on a balance sheet!
If any money is left over will be going support other alternative treatments help others like Thomas and there families!
Depending on the support we get we may use the money to start a charity to educate and help people with alternative treatments!!
Thankyou all so very much for your continuous support!!
