Raise Money For Angelina's Surgery

My name is Kevin Ryan and I hope to raise money for my niece's surgery.

After months of countless hospitalizations and doctor visits my niece Angelina has finally been diagnosed with endometriosis. A disorder commonly found in women that can attack the inflammatory systems and organs.

Angelina started her period at age nine, and from the beginning it was aggressive. Most days consisted of heavy bleeding, intense pain and occasional trips to the emergency room due to blood loss. This led to Angelina missing events that were structurally important to any child’s emotional growth. Angelina was eager to begin middle school with her friends. She looked forward to going to dances and joining sports teams and clubs. Just as she got the hang of middle school the dreams came to halt. The symptoms of her period became so intense that she needed to stay home from school to cope with the pain. Her mother knew interventions had to be made and began the course to resolution. Starting with her pediatrician leading all the way now to doctors in Manhattan. Unfortunately, her sixth-grade year has been spent being poked and prodded rather than building memories with friends and gaining vital skills in school. Angelina is now homeschooled and isolated from her friends. This has resulted in a lack of motivation in Angelina. She spends most days alone and even though she’ll never say it I know she is so upset. It has taken a tremendous toll on her mental health and we all want more than anything for her to be able to have fun again.

Endometriosis is extremely difficult to diagnose. Lots of doctors shoot it down and recommend alternative treatments for the pain. Angelina’s case is rare which made it even harder to diagnose. It has been two tiring years of x-rays, ultrasounds and blood tests. Every route her mother took led to a dead end until she finally found a doctor willing to help her. This led them to the Director of the New York Endometriosis Center, Masahide Kanayma. This doctor is the best at what he does and believes that the surgery Angelina needs will help her gain a quality of life again because right now she has none.

We need your help. The most effective treatment is laparoscopic surgery and the doctors willing to perform the procedure are out of network. They are requiring us to pay out of pocket for all costs. This is unattainable for many reasons. My sister has had to miss work and change her entire schedule to accommodate her child’s needs. They have made adjustments to their lifestyle so Angelina may get the help she so desperately needs and I am afraid it will not cut it.
