Raising money for my spine surgery in Barcelona

Hello my name is deana I’m a 32 year old mother of two. In May 2022 I was diagnosed with an incurable brain disease. Arnold chiari malformation. Gradually my body is deteriorating and if I don’t get the operation soon I could end up in a wheelchair or worse with dementia

the Uk offer an operation which is super risky and high mortality and morbidity. For me this is not the route I want to go down. As the operation can be more risky than the disease itself

I’ve found a place in Barcelona that offer an operation with no risks and that seems to fix the problem. With almost 2000 people already going the Barcelona route from all over the world. This is the route I want to go but the uk will not cover or pay for any operations overseas. I’m unsure why it’s not available in England.

im trying to raise money to pay for the operation in Spain. The costs is £20,000 plus expenses of getting there and of the initial consultation fees all totalling to around £22,000

i hope to have the operation between March - June 2023 to ensure my condition doesn’t get too worse to do anything about. (Early onset of dementia)

I am very used to living independently and never had to ask for such support in my life. But for me this is the difference of life and death. The difference between me living a standard of life where I can remain active. My worst fear is to lose my memories or the ability to use my limbs. Over the past 10 years I’ve noticed my condition worsen. I don’t want to wait until I have a severe disability or become and burden on my children I want to take action now
