Help Me Prove Hemophiliacs Can Play College Ball
Donation protected
Hello, I am looking for a way to help my family offset the cost of college by raising money for the opportunity to follow my dreams. When I was 3 months old I was given a zero percent chance of surviving due to a blood clot in my spine. I immediately went through surgery and my parents were told that I may not be able to ever walk. Through this medical crisis, I was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder called Hemophilia. My clinical diagnosis is Hemophilia B - Factor IX severe.
Through the grace of God and modern medicine with dedicated doctors, I've been able to walk and live a productive "normal" active life but not without a serious financial impact on my parents. Throughout my childhood, I had many doctor visits, hospital stays, and continuous medicine that have had significant financial impact on my parents. Treatments for hemophilia are very expensive and can cost thousands of dollars per week.
When I was 3 years old my love for baseball was born and this year I have the opportunity to continue to play the sport I love in spite of the odds that have been stacked against me. I have received a $10k scholarship to play baseball at OKWU, unfortunately that is not enough to cover the cost of attending the university and I'm seeking donations to aid in off-setting the burden of college costs for my parents on top of my medical bills. Therefore, any consideration and donation you are willing to provide to help me reach my goal of playing collegiate baseball and paving a path as an example to others with medical conditions that you can achieve your dreams would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Zach
