Raise money to buy Steinway Upright Piano

As a high school freshman, the lockdown years of COVID 19 were particularly challenging. Stuck at home all day, my Dad suggested we limit our screen time to one hour per day and use our free time to read, draw or learn an instrument. I decided to teach myself piano. Learning to read music was difficult at first but I stuck with it. I learned Beethoven’s Fur Elise, then a Chopin Nocturne. After practicing many hours a day my hands and mind began to really connect with the piano. A hunger grew in me to learn and perform the great masterpieces of western music.
During these past three years my love of music has only grown stronger. Last year I won the Edna Bost Barringer Young Artist Award. This helped me travel weekly to Appalachian State University to study with the renowned virtuoso Dr Bair Shagdaron. I have learned so much in the past year it would be hard to quantify. Needless to say, I plan on pursuing music studies at the collegiate level, (both performance and composition). Unfortunately concert pianos can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and developing the touch and sensitivity for the concert hall requires a consistent daily relationship with a responsive instrument. That is why I’ve decided to dedicate myself this year with my Starbucks earnings and mowed lawns to purchase a Yamaha baby grand piano. This piano is the most affordable equivalent to the pianos I will encounter on stage and will accelerate my performance and composition goals. Any help you can offer towards my journey would be gratefully appreciated. In return I will strive to return your donations in the form of musical beauty, from the great masters of the past and hopefully some new works of my own.
