Hello, this account was created to help my mother whose health took an unexpected turn. The money will be used to get caught back up on bills and other medical expenses.
Sept.17, 2022 started as a regular day for my mom. She got off work as usual, took a nap and began her day. Out of no where she experienced a pain that was so unbearable, it caused her to be transported to St. Anne’s ER. They did testing, ct scans, and blood work. They came back to tell us that she had to be transported to St. Vs because she had to have emergency surgery, if she didn't have the surgery, it would kill her. The Dr stated that she had fistula between her colon and ovary that is infected & has abscesses possibly caused by prior episode of diverticulitis. They needed to get rid of infection with antibiotics then surgery to close up the area.. The crazy thing is, SHE NEVER KNEW that she had diverticulitis.
They transported her to St Vs and continued to give antibiotics. That next morning, the surgeon told her he will have to remove part of her colon and she will have a temporary colostomy bag for 6 months at the least. Talk about life changer! She had a tube in her throat and of course the colostomy bag. Eventually the tube came out and she was able to eat a regular diet, excluding certain things that she had to stay away from. After about a week, she was discharged. She ended up having an allergic reaction to the adhesive from the bag, which broke her stomach out terribly! With blisters, pus leaking, bleeding, and problems with my bag sticking, that was another problem in itself.
Moving to present, she has her reversal surgery scheduled for April 21st. She has been off since September of last year and hasn’t received a paycheck at all during this time because she used all her sick time for when she was off after her hysterectomy in June 2022. She won't be able to go back to work until sometime in June 2023 (hopefully). My dad is currently their only income but he’s also only one person. He’s overworking and doing what he can. She applied for disability but doesn’t know when or if it will be approved to start up.
My moms pride sometimes prevents her from asking for help but I as well as my siblings, also know they need it.
Anything will help, it all adds up. Thank you!
