“Raising for the Rutherfords”

Hi, my name is Miranda, and originally this GoFundMe was for my friends (the Rutherfords) who were going through a rough time with Libbie fighting Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. You’re welcome to read the original story below. Today (April 10, 2023), however, the family have literally lost everything in a house fire, so need our help and support again to get back on their feet. 

Doug is one of our amazing teachers at CSDE and his wonderful wife, Libbie was diagnosed out of the blue with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in July 2022. They were told that without immediate treatment, Libbie would have about 2-6 weeks to live. The two of them are in Brisbane now while Libbie is going through her lengthy and tough treatment and their young children, William (6) and Margaret (4) are staying with extended family back at home. No doubt there is a significant financial burden on the family as Doug is usually their sole income earner, with Libbie being a stay-at-home Mum. Many have asked how we can support the family. This is tricky, but the most practical way is with money, so please use this platform if you would like to help provide some financial support for this precious family. We know they would never ask for this kind of help, but if you would like to give, then please do, and I’m sure they will gratefully accept. It’s been a “motto” of mine to give what you can when you can, hoping that if you are ever in need yourself, others will do the same for you. So I ask you to please offer what you can to help provide the thing that is most needed for Libbie - her strongest support being close by. Help allow Doug to stay with Libbie and help them to afford to have their children visit when Libbie is able to see them. We can’t do much, but we can do this. Let’s form the village around them that they need.
