Raising funds for black theatre in London

Donation protected
Hello friends, allies, and supporters of the arts!

My name is Emmanuel Akwafo, and I am beyond grateful to share this moment with you. After the sold-out success of “Limp Wrist and the Iron Fist” at Brixton House, I am determined to carry this momentum into 2025 by creating and helping more Black theatre to amplifies our stories and voices.

Black theatre in London is so important whether it’s plays, musicals, or dance, it gives a platform to diverse voices that deserve to be heard. That’s why I need your help. I want to support others in bringing their work to life, and by contributing to the ‘Raising Funds for Black Theatre in London’ GoFundMe, you can be part of that change. Every donation helps small productions keep going, and simply sharing this campaign with your network can make a huge difference in reaching more people. Let’s come together to support Black theatre, attend shows, follow companies like Talawa Theatre and Afridiziak Theatre News, and celebrate the incredible work being created. The more we show up, the stronger the community becomes. Let’s make sure Black stories continue to thrive on London’s stages!

Taking the Next Step: Limp Wrist and the Iron Fist was not just a play it was a movement. It celebrated Black queer identities, weaving love, resilience, and self-discovery into a powerful narrative. But this is just the beginning.

My vision for 2025 includes:
-Reviving “Limp Wrist and the Iron Fist” for more audiences to experience its magic.

- helping others get there production to the stage

- Creating bold, new theatre projects that amplify Black stories and voices.

- Providing R&D opportunities to explore untold narratives.

- Employing more people of colour both on stage and behind the scenes in an industry that desperately needs more diversity.

To make this happen, I need your support. After navigating the challenges of failed funding applications, I am turning to the community for help to keep this dream alive.

Join me in Making Change: Supporting this campaign means standing with Black voices in a field where our stories are often overlooked. It means being part of a movement that ensures our narratives are not just told but celebrated.

How You Can Help: Donate no matter the amount, every contribution helps us build something extraordinary. Share spread the word across your networks to help us reach as many supporters as possible.

Thank You: From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for believing in this mission. Together, we can create transformative theatre that not only tells Black stories but also reshapes the cultural landscape. I can’t wait to continue this journey with you in 2025 and beyond. With love and gratitude,  Emmanuel Akwafo Creator and Actor and dreamer
