Raising funds for a fitness suite at Tytherington School

Donation protected

Hello! I’m Matt Harvey - PE Teacher at Tytherington School in Macclesfield. Our school community is looking to raise funds for the ongoing development of a school fitness suite. Cash donations are incredible and will help towards the ongoing costs (e.g. equipment – purchasing, delivery, servicing), lighting, flooring, painting, graphics to name a few), however we would also welcome any help you may be able to offer, from donating your time to help do some DIY, to donating key items (we're keen to get LED lights/sound system/spot lights/plants/wall storage etc. to create a truly unique health and fitness setting). Any offers of help would go a long way to the future success of this exciting new venture. I’m reaching out to the Tytherington School community and beyond to make this pipe dream a reality!

Thanks to the hard work of our site team and the incredibly generous donations of equipment we’ve received from Everybody Health & Leisure, the development of the space is underway and, with our community behind us, we would love to be able to open our doors to students and staff as soon as possible in 2025. The fitness suite will be a welcoming, vibrant and inclusive space which offers something for everyone; whatever the fitness goals or motivations might be! We want the fitness suite to be something that will stand the test of time, and which the whole school community can build on and be proud of.

To raise funds, I’ve set myself an endurance challenge like no other. ‘Summit to Sea, Tytherington to the Isle of Man’ will be a BEASTLY 6-leg bike, hike, run, kayak challenge. I’m planning on completing the challenge inside 72 hours. I believe this will be the first time this has ever been attempted!

In July 2025 I’ll be cycling from Tytherington School to the base of Shining Tor (highest hill in Cheshire). I’ll run to the summit of Shining Tor and back down, then cycle on to Liverpool, stopping briefly at the soon to open Everton Football Stadium (my beloved football club!). The team will catch a ferry to the Isle of Man (my place of birth) where I will sea kayak a section of the coast before hiking to the top of the highest peak on the Isle of Man (Snaefell). I’ll then run down from the top of Snaefell to the coast where I’ll take a rejuvenating sea dip. Finally, I’ll cycle back to the harbour in Douglas for my journey back to Liverpool and on to Tytherington. Mission accomplished!

POLITE REQUEST:
If you have any questions, suggestions of support, or if would like to find out more about the specific equipment/items we hope to purchase with the donations, or the types of trades / services that might be able to support the project, please contact Matt Harvey or Mr Fitzsimmons. We would love to hear from you!

Regular updates on the progress of the fitness suite as well as Matt's endurance challenge will be added here and also on our school PE 'X' account: @tytheringtonPE
