Raising funds for Canny Cats Rescue

Donation protected
Canny Cats Rescue is a foster based cat rescue that started at the start of 2020. We are two dedicated ladies with a huge passion for cat rescue. We have worked in cat rescue for a number of years.

We started CCR because we wanted to focus on cat welfare and education. There is a big population of unwanted stray and feral cats in the North East and we want to work to change that. We want to start a trap, neuter and return/relocate program for feral cats, and eventually we’d like to start running cat education events in local communities and schools.

We had planned to start raising funds and support by going to local spring/summer fairs, holding bake sales and doing car boot events. However, the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions meant that we have been unable to start any fundraising plans that we had.

We have started this fundraiser to raise money to cover our cat care costs and to fund getting some essential equipment. I have broken down our food, litter and equipment costs at the bottom.

We are extremely grateful to anyone who can donate at this time. We know things haven’t been easy for anyone during this lockdown and many people have struggled with money and employment. If you can’t donate but still want to help then please share our fundraiser and Facebook page (link at the bottom) with fellow cat lovers.

We really appreciate any help that you can offer us, whether it’s a small donation or a sharing our fundraiser, it all makes a big difference to us and the cats we rescue.

Since starting to set this fundraiser up we have had to rush the mother cat of 2, 8 day old kittens to an emergency Sunday vet appointment with what looks like a large hernia and showing signs of being unwell. The cost of the appointment was £125, we have asked for an estimate for the cost of the hernia operation and spaying that she will need when her kittens have been weaned.

Our estimated day to day cost of our current cats for one week is: £45
Cost for recent treatment for worms; fleas and pro-biotic paste: £40
Essential equipment: £187
(£68 + £38.50 for a trap and crush cage: £40 for a microchip scanner: £15 for a Snugglesafe (a microwavable, cat friendly heating pad) and £25 for a set of scales)
