Damien’s family planted a cherry blossom tree at there family home in memory of Damien the week he passed in 2019. I was contacted by Damien’s family with a request to have his now 3yr old tree planted at derby park facing there family home. As luck would have it we were looking for a new cherry tree to be planted on the main pathway and after asking permission we were able to accommodate the request. Damien’s family were familiar with the risks to the tree’s survival and had the tree not survive the move, they would be wanting to donate a new replacement tree to honour Damien’s life Damien 47 years old passed away very suddenly. A Wavertree hub for former substance addicts has been named after Damien who who died after beating decades of addiction. Local businesswoman Kate Stewart had revealed the Vitality Homes Centre, in the former Cuffs building on Wavertree High Street, will be named after local resident Damien John Kelly. Damien’s family received a letter from the House of Commons from the chair of Addaction when he passed, as he done so much for people in recovery. Rip Damien May your legacy live on at Derby park. It’s the families wishes to have a memorial bench installed on the main pathway in front of Damien’s tree and would like to welcome anyone who knew Damien to donate towards his fundraiser.
