Raising funds for Heather Sawyer as she battles cancer

Hi, my name is Tracie and I went to secondary school with the amazing Heather Sawyer, who was Heather Reilly at the time. I am in awe of Heather, she has shown resilience, calmness, kindness no matter what life has thrown at her, and I thought she deserves something back.

Heather is first and foremost a wife of 20 years to Lee, her rock, mother to three and step mother to two, grandmother to eleven, daughter, friend etc etc. However, she has been fighting with breast cancer since 2020 resulting in a mastectomy, lymph node removal, chemo, radiotherapy then a partial hysterectomy as the cancer had spread to her ovaries and was then diagnosed as stage 4 in early 2023. This diagnosis was not something Heather was accepting, and she has gone on to develop support groups, raise awareness on national TV, became friends with the stars as she and other amazing ladies promoted self checks to detect breast cancer earlier. She and 19 other ladies became the Change+CheckChoir, released a song called Golden, made the top 10 and has only been nominated for a BAFTA. Amazing!

Through her years of battling she has continued to work as much as she can, but now the cancer has spread to her spine and ribs she is no longer able to continue with work and at only 49 is now facing financial burden on top of her health battle. Like most of us she has a mortgage and responsibilities, but has been using her time to plan a party for her 50th to raise money for a number of cancer charities. I think her and her family have enough to deal with, without the financial worries as well.
