Raising funds for Leukaemia UK

Hello, my name is Ricky - on the 10th August 2022 at the age of 31 and just 3 weeks after getting our keys to our first home I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukaemia that needed immediate treatment. I was transferred to a specialist hospital called King's College in London where I underwent intensive treatment for the next 3 months. I was given a 50/50 chance to live but after successfully getting through 3 rounds of chemotherapy I was given a life-saving stem cell transplant from an anonymous donor on 7th December 2022 and 2 days before Christmas on the 23rd December I was discharged from hospital and home again with my wonderful wife Sam. This was the best Christmas present ever.

now 8 months on and despite ongoing treatment, I can happily say that I'm in remission and things are looking very positive for the future. I have now decided to raise funds by hosting a charity football match with my wife for an amazing charity called Leukaemia UK that funds vital research into kinder treatments for Leukaemia as current treatment is absolutely brutal to the body. I lost all my hair and around 16kg in weight and muscle-mass, amongst other complications too so if kinder treatments can be found then it makes such an awful diagnosis that little bit easier.

Not only does Leukaemia UK provide vital research funds but they also provide support and education for those like myself affected by and living with Leukaemia and with partnership with Leukaemia Care, they also provide financial grants to those affected by the disease too, which was such a blessing to me and my wife as we both lost our jobs as I was going through treatment.

The date and location of the football match is Saturday 16th September from 5pm at Chatham Town FC stadium and all funds through GoFundMe and cash on the day goes directly to Leukaemia UK.
