Lia Scott Price Prevent Cancer!

Donation protected
Hi all! My name is Lia Scott Price and many of you know me as a comic book creator and artist.

I've battled a uterine tumor (with suspicion of malignancy, turned out to be uterine cancer, not ovarian) for years. I've had prior treatments including a supracervical hysterectomy due to an elevated CA-125 Cancer Antigen test.

In 2023, another CA-125 test was false negative. An ultrasound revealed a solid mass lesion with suspicion of malignancy (my cervix and ovaries had been left intact because the cancer was in the uterus). I did have a previous endocervical biopsy that detected the tumor. Last year, the tumor ruptured (due to a dismissive obgyn (incident documented) who ignored by symptoms and pain) and landed me in the ER with bleeding and a 205/147 hypertensive blood pressure crisis. One cancer center assisted in paying off one bill in full, but I'm currently paying off ER and ambulance bills.

This year 2024, a new obgyn upon examination informed me that something was not right and very wrong. A second opinion informed me that this time I have all the symptoms of a possible Stage 1 Cervical Cancer. I am in pelvic and abdominal pain daily.

Cervical Cancer is a progressive disease, with about 3-5 years before it becomes fully developed and invasive. Pap smears can be normal in those years since Cervical Cancer develops slowly and may take 5 years to show up in tests. It's already year 2 and the symptoms are present.

I am working on getting testing and monitoring and evaluation for any treatment including surgery.

This is why many women die from any gynecological cancer without proper monitoring and regular care. The whole point of preventive care is to make sure cancer doesn't advance. It should be taken seriously. Given my medical history, I'm a high-risk patient and there is always the possibility of malignancy. But as everyone knows, healthcare costs in the US are outrageous and in many cases like mine, cost-prohibitive and that's why many have to turn to gofundme.

I've made it this far, still in daily pain but I’ve managed to pay off some hospital bills. I still need to raise funds because even with insurance, hospital lab costs are so expensive that I need to go for second opinions at independent facilities.

I need to stay healthy for my cat, Dybbuk, so I can continue to take care of him! I really hate asking for help (and I do have gofundme guilt!) but I’m thinking of my cat and his care and that is also why I’m doing this—to be there for him, and of course, to get better.

Any and all assistance is appreciated and will go towards medical expenses. Thank you so much for everyone who has donated, shared, or sent words of support! I appreciate you all!
