Raising funds to help Cameron
Donation protected
My name is Tracy Wade, I’ve worked in the UK horseracing industry in Newmarket since 1984. I’m raising funds for my husband Cameron who has been diagnosed with Grade 4 Wildtype Glioblastoma (GBM), a potentially terminal form of brain cancer which has limited treatment options in the UK.
We received this devastating news just prior to Christmas last year. From leading a fit, healthy, working life, bringing up our 4 children together, we are now having to face the prospect of living a life without Cameron.
GBMs account for 50% of all malignant brain tumours. Standard of Care (SoC) for this type of cancer hasn’t progressed since 2005, the lack of effective options has turned our attention to look further afield. Extensive research has led us to IOZK, a clinic in Germany run by Professor Van Gool. His specialisation is in the field of Immunotherapy, specifically GBMs.
Founded in 1985, IOZK was the first institute in Europe to receive approval for production of individual IO-VAC® vaccine for treatment of tumours. The personalised vaccine uses the patient’s cells and tumour antigens to activate the immune system to kill the tumour.
This treatment comes with a high cost which we need to fund ourselves. The treatment spans c.10 months, runs alongside chemotherapy at Addenbrookes, the total cost is £117,719 for 9 individual treatments.
This is why we are reaching out now for your help please -
Cameron has just completed the first 6-week phase of SoC treatment at Addenbrookes (radio and chemotherapy) which he has come through very well. He has a short break before starting the next phase of his treatment on 18th March.
We are fully committed to this new treatment, and we are funding the first 6 treatments ourselves (£32,000). We are looking to raise the remaining £85,719 and would appreciate all the support you can give.
Thank you very much.
