Raising funds to help the family of Chris Conant

Donation protected
I am reaching out to friends (and maybe some kind strangers) asking for financial support for the family of Christopher Conant, who passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022. I have known Chris’s sisters and mother for 35+ years.
Chris suffered a severe head injury as a result of a brutal assault in late November in Charlestown, NH. While Chris was hospitalized at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center ICU, family and friends were able to see some fleeting moments of consciousness— a short conversation, a grin. However, over the days it became clear that Chris needed to be transferred to palliative care, which was done on Monday, December 12th when he was moved to the Jack Byrne Center. Chris’s mother Carol and his sister Hilary were by his side and provided as much peace, comfort, and love as possible in his final days. Although Chris's sister Amy was unable to make the trip, she provided support and comfort over the phone to Chris whenever possible. The three of them—Carol, Amy and Hilary—all loved Chris deeply.

Chris’s family is dealing with the unimaginable— accepting Chris’s death from this senseless act, while also dealing with unexpected, significant financial costs.

Cremation expenses, costs to hold a simple celebration of life ceremony in the Summer 2023, plane tickets for Carol to get here before Chris died, more plane tickets for Carol and Amy to attend the ceremony this summer, lost income for Hilary while out on Family Medical Leave these last two weeks so she could be with Chris, hotel rooms and meals for Carol and Hilary while Chris was still at DHMC….all of these costs add up quickly and Chris’ family is not in a position to shoulder them. They need our help.

If there is one common theme from those who knew Chris, it was that he was incredibly kind and that he had a heart of gold. Chris's family hopes to memorialize his spirit of kindness by creating a bench, to be placed in Charlestown, in his honor. Any additional proceeds will go to the Jack Byrne Center, which provided remarkable and compassionate care for Chris so that he could leave this world with peace and dignity.
With the family’s permission, I am posting this Go Fund Me with the hopes that family and friends who are able to donate, will donate and support Chris’s family. Any amount is appreciated. I will be forwarding all funds from the Go Fund Me to the family (care of Hilary Conant, as she is local).
Thank you for your consideration and support!
