Emily teaches hair in Guatemala

Hey there I’m Emily. A global studies student at University and hairstylist for over 20 years. This year I embarked on a big adventure with the Australian organization, “Hair Aid”. It was my second trip abroad with Hair Aid, where we teach underprivileged persons in developing countries the skill of hair cutting. The course is 5 days and at the end our students receive a certificate and kit to begin a micro business. This free course allows students the opportunity to change their path and get out of poverty. I’ve seen first hand what helping someone with no prior education or opportunities beforehand can do. It’s why I keep going back to do another project and Hair Aid has helped thousands of individuals to change their lives. This past May I visited Cambodia and Indonesia where I worked alongside numerous other volunteer stylists to gift the skill of hair cutting. In September I head to Guatemala to do it all
over again. This will be our first time in Guatemala and a new start up can be costly. I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship but I used all of it for the last two trips. I’m asking for your help which will allow me to bring supplies needed for teaching as well as cover some of my costs. We are all volunteer stylists and pay our entire way to go on an international project.
Thanks for listening. Please follow my journey on social media as well.
