Raising Heathen Haus
Donation protected
Hi folks! Karolina and Wolfe here.
As many of you know, we own and operate The Heathenry, a curiosity shop near downtown Tucson, AZ. When we opened The Heathenry, we had an ultimate goal in mind- a space for folks of all backgrounds to learn about and appreciate natural history. We recently were presented with the opportunity to expand our practice and invite more folks to partake in our mission of honoring nature and fostering an educational environment for all. Introducing Heathen Haus- a collaborative makers space for those looking to learn a multitude of crafts and partake in a unique community.
Heathen Haus is devoted to providing a collaborative learning space for individuals interested in alternative arts and creative skills honoring nature. The Haus is a collective made up of mentors and mentees, both people who already create alternative and oddities-related art and individuals who want to learn to make those things. It will house workshops, events, lectures, and social gatherings all catered to our community.
Planned future events include:
- Insect pinning
- Small animal taxidermy
- Bone processing
- Terrarium building
- Craft nights
- Social events, LGBTQIA+ events
- ...and more!
Memberships to participate in the Haus’ open hours and earn discounts and access to classes and events will be available to the public for a monthly fee. We're also pleased to announce that Monsoon Mystics, as well as other local makers, are our collaborative partners in this project!
Heathen Haus is located directly behind The Heathenry and Monsoon Mystics and is compromised of approximately 1500 square feet of open, warehouse space.
This cooperative community needs your support to start strong! We need help securing funds to purchase equipment and tools that will be shared among the collective and available for use by the members of the collective. We believe that there is a need in Tucson for a space like this where like-minded people can share in their art and become inspired by collaboration, but we need the community to help us lay the groundwork for this amazing opportunity!
Raised funds will go towards:
- Furnishings (tables, chairs, shelving, etc.)
- Tools (dissection kits, insect pinning kits, processing chemicals)
- Operating costs (Rent, utilities)
All remaining funds will be used to further expand our offerings to the community. We hope you join us along the way!
