Raising Money And Awareness for Cancer Research

Hi my names Jake, I’m 24 years old and play rugby for beccles, I’m raising money for cancer research in loving memory for a special lady called Sian Mortlock who unfortunately lost her battle with cancer.

Last year I was involved in a nasty freak car accident where a part failed on my car causing me to roll and flip down the road on the A1 and ended up upside down on the side of the road in a tree/bush with a branch impelling my shoulder, I was lucky to say the least to walk out of a crash like that with an old car that has no airbags at all and the roof off!

I remember that day one of the firefighters shaking my hand and said someone was watching over because you don’t get many accidents like that the driver just climbs out themselves.

Unfortunately on the same day my childhood best friends mum sian passed away, sian has always taken care of me when I was in pre school, primary school and middle school and it’s taken a long time but I’ve finally come to the realisation that Sian was looking over me that day and allowed me to walk away with minimal damage and I want to repay her in the only way I can think of and raise money for cancer research uk.

I’ll be getting Sian’s husband Vinny to shave my head once the target has been met, if we beat the target then Vinny will come up with another challenge for me undertake.
