Raising money for Baby Violet!
Donation protected
Violet was born on September 15, 2018 at the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital here in Buffalo, NY. As she was not due to arrive until November 24, 2018, she surprised everyone with her two months premature arrival into our world and into our hearts.
Though she weighed a mere one pound and twelve ounces and was only thirteen inches long at birth, she proved from the outset that she was a tiny but incredibly strong fighter. She gained nearly a pound of weight in her first week and quickly became a favorite with all the Oishei neonatal staff.
Her mommy, Shanon, was discharged from the hospital after a few days of recovery, and her parents and grandparents kept her company with lots of visits and boundless love and pride. A brief setback occurred when Violet needed surgery to repair her bowel at just one week old, but she persevered and was on the mend in the days that followed. She impresses everyone every single day with her strength and sweetness and is perfect evidence of the mighty miracle that is human life.
Of course, life in the NICU is always nerve-wracking for Violet’s family, as even with the very best of care, the day-to-day ups and downs of life with a premature baby can take an emotional and physical toll. Violet will likely stay in the NICU for at least a month or two while she continues to grow stronger with the goal of finally coming home with mommy and daddy, and this will certainly be an expensive but ultimately worthwhile time.
To help ease any financial stress for her parents, we, her friends and family, are holding a comedy benefit show to help raise funds that will be donated directly to her parents to help them through this difficult time. Violet’s proud papa, Travis, is one of Buffalo’s favorite local comedians, and it is our pleasure to celebrate his daughter’s progress through the healing power of love and laughter.
We've also set up this GoFundMe page for anyone who can't attend the show or who just wants to donate right away.
We thank you for your support!
