Support children with special needs in Tanzania
Donation protected
Our names are Eve Murphy and Marcella O’Connor, and we are two nurses heading to Tanzania on the 17th of October to volunteer in a classroom for children with special needs. The children who attend the school are from low-income families in a rural part of Arusha. There are widespread socioeconomic issues in Tanzania, and many children with learning disabilities and their families are not receiving sufficient support. The school is in a very under- developed community. The classroom is in poor condition with very basic chairs and desks, a simple chalk board and donated toys, games and learning materials. Most of the children fall within the Autism spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder or non-specified learning difficulties. The age in the class varies hugely between 6–19 year olds. The children are inappropriately mixed as there is no other facility available.
Our objective is to fundraise money to support these children in the special needs class in Arusha. With the funds we aim to provide essential equipment for the classroom such as sensory objects, stimulating toys, arts, and crafts supplies, learning materials like colours, paint, toys, and anything else that will benefit the children’s development.
Any donation at all, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated and all money raised will go directly to the children.
