Raising Money for Artists In Need Due To COVID-19

Donation protected
In March of 2020, my quarantine from the COVID-19 pandemic began.  Soon after, I started writing a song to express my feelings about what felt like to me…entering into the wilderness.  A dear friend of mine, Gary Braun, used the same metaphor to describe his feelings and also proposed this question…”Do you even know how to breathe”?  The question and this one word…breathe…kept spinning around in my head.

Breathe…Respira…Breathe…Respira.

The song evolved into an instrumental piece, taking me from the beginning of the pandemic, through the confinement period; all of the thoughts and realizations about my life, my family, society, the world…the adaptation to new ways of living…and finally my hopes & mindfulness and we continue the journey through the wilderness and into the unknown.

When I finished writing, I had a vision of hearing and seeing many different musicians from all over the world…also confined in their homes…playing their instruments on the track.  One by one, I began reaching out to musician friends and family, inviting them to join the project and record an arrangement for the song, in their home, with their respective instrument.  Some had home studios to record in, others had only their phones.  Everyone sent their recordings, including videos of their performances.  As the pieces arrived, I added each performer’s part to the song and edited in their video footage.  Over 20 musicians from different cities and countries joined “Respira”.  The result is an 11-minute powerful epic pandemic rock anthem that exemplifies the solidarity between artists around the world.

Your support of this project will raise funds to help musicians in financial need due to the effects of COVID-19.  Muchas Gracias.

Thank you to all artists involved:
