Raising Money For My Daughter's Cancer Needs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marlene & I'm raising money for my daughter, Melissa Floyd. She is 39 and was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 IDC breast cancer, node positive. She is currently going through chemotherapy every 3 weeks and will continue this regimen until December. She will then have to continue targeted therapy thereafter until August of next year. With all of these treatments come nasty side effects and most of the time they are debilitating and limit her life even more than normal.
Due to increased costs related to cancer needs, it is taking away from everyday living expenses and finances. She and her family of 3 are struggling just to make ends meet and find ways to get needed supplies and medications, as well as pay copays and medical bills. She will have 2 big surgeries next year - one early in the year (which is part of her treatment plan - a bilateral mastectomy) and the other will be mid next year, which is her reconstructive surgery.
She needs supplies she has to pay out of pocket for, for her port that her home pharmacy does not supply due to needing special items because of skin issues related to other medical conditions not related to cancer. She has to do more dressing changes during chemo than normal because of infection risks, which requires needing more supplies than normal. She also had (& has to continue to) purchase out of pocket sterilization supplies to sterilize everything prior to use. She is higher risk for infections due to her pre-existing immunodeficiency, as well as the chemo and even has to be put in a private room during both treatment for IVIg & chemotherapy.
She has to buy a copious amount of medications every month that cost hundreds of dollars. She also has to now purchase multiple over the counter medications and supplies that get to be costly on a regular basis for chemo side effect management. She has to see her doctor before every chemo treatment and the copays are expensive, on top of all of her other copays for her other chronic conditions. She has to get an echocardiogram every 3 months because one of the targeted medications she receives every treatment can cause heart failure, so she has to be monitored, as well.
She needs help with everyday basics & living essentials, such as food, or toiletries to give a couple examples. Chemotherapy and related costs & bills have created a massive financial hardship for her family.
Christmas is coming up, she has a 10 year-old daughter, & she isn't sure how she's going to afford the holidays.
My daughter is a giving, caring & loving person who has always done kind things for others and animals and never expects anything in return. However, I am asking you for HELP PLEASE that she would NOT ask for herself, because she needs it desperately at this time.
I believe this is what she would mostly need donations for, and I know she would be more than grateful for any help. All donations are welcomed and greatly appreciated in helping her fight cancer. Thank you.
