Get a Defib for Aldi Batley

On Saturday 24th Feb my Grandad Kev (Kevin Green) had a cardiac arrest following a heart attack in the Aldi Supermarket in Batley.
Aldi staff Jag & Alex carried out CPR until the ambulance arrived. Their quick thinking and effective chest compressions no doubt saved his life.
We were initially told that he was unlikely to survive as he was ‘down’ for 19 minutes. We were prepared for the worst by the amazing Drs and Nurses at Pinderfields Hospital.
To our amazement he started to come round midday Sunday, unaware of events and began speaking, smiling and cracking jokes.
He has had a pacemaker fitted and was discharged from hospital last Sunday.
Just to put this into context:
- Fewer than 1 in 10 people survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest.
- Around 7–8% of people in whom resuscitation is attempted survive to hospital discharge.
- Two of the most important factors which influence survival include the time between cardiac arrest and attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and early defibrillation.
There was unfortunately no defibrillator available in store.
I would like to raise money to buy a defibrillator/AED from the British Heart Foundation to gift to Aldi Batley to not only say Thankyou for saving my Grandad but to give anyone else's loved one that suffers a cardiac arrest instore or nearby the best chance of survival with early defibrillation.
