'Raising the Roof' - Edward Alderton Theatre - new roof fund
Donation protected
The Edward Alderton Theatre (the EAT) is an amateur theatre venue in Bexleyheath, located behind the Brampton Road Learning and Enterprise College next to Crook Log Leisure Centre. It was publicly licensed, built and financed in its entirety by drama students during the mid 1970s. The EAT first opened its doors to the public on the 17 May 1976 with a production of, 'Oh What a Lovely War,' directed by Derek Goulding, the drama tutor who was to become the theatre's first artistic director.
Run, managed and produced entirely by volunteers via the Management Committee, the Drama Committee, actors, directors, front-of-house, crew, set-builders, sound and light technicians and so on, as Chair of the Management Committee, I now need to ask for your support.
As we enter our 'Golden Year', with an amazing 50 year track record of producing a wide variety of professional quality plays, we need to raise funds to replace our old and leaky roof. Despite numerous attempts over the years at patching up the roof and making good, it's no longer fit for purpose. Our target is £50k as it's a complex job to replace the existing roof.
Please support your local amateur theatre to continue to exist for the local community in Bexleyheath and the wider London Borough of Bexley. Not only do we produce 6 plays per year, each a week long, enticing audiences from far and wide, we hold a social evening every Wednesday (except show weeks), where friendships are formed at the friendliest licensed bar in town!
Any amount you can give will really make a difference and go directly to our new roof fund.
We'd like to thank you in anticipation of your generous donation.
Let's go - let's 'Raise the Roof' at the EAT!
Many, many thanks
