Raleigh International: 10 Week Nepal Expedition
Donation protected
Hello and thanks for visiting my gofundme
In September 2022 I will be joining a 10 week Raleigh Expedition in the amazing country of Nepal!
***UPDATE*** Thanks so much to everyone who's sponsored me so far, I really appreciate all the support! As a heads up, there's been a slight change of plan and instead of the Hidden Glen 10K I will instead be doing the Glasgow Kiltwalk on the 24th of April. I hope you will all be happy to be sponsoring me to do this fundraiser instead however, if you have any issues with this please let me know! Thanks again!
I'm glad to let you know that I've decided to take a gap year before I go to university as an opportunity to see a bit more of the world and hopefully do something really cool. I've been incredibly fortunate and have gotten a place with Raleigh International, an organization that has been sending young people overseas since 1984, on a 10 week expedition in Nepal helping local communities and trekking through the mountains. I've put some more information on both below if your interested.
I am now fundraising for Raleigh as they will be organising my trip. I have been given a minimum fundraising target of £3,800 to achieve by the end of August and as a small kick-starter I have signed up for my first ever 10K for the end of April, the 'Hidden Glen 10K ' in Perthshire and would greatly appreciate any sponsors towards it. I will be running numerous other events and sales to fundraise in the future so please look out for further updates!
Thank you for reading and a massive thanks for any donations!
Now what exactly happens during a 10 week Raleigh Expedition?
During my expedition I will be partaking in 2 Community Projects and 1 Adventure Leadership Project.
In the Community Projects I will contribute to vital work by improving water and sanitation facilities in rural Nepalese communities alongside local project partners and community members. These projects will take place in two separate communities where I will work in a variety of ways such as building handwashing stations or constructing toilets etc.
The Adventure Leadership Project is a multiple week trek through the central Himalayas and teaches valuable skills such as leadership, teamwork, resilience, survival skills and how to be self sufficient whilst providing me with fantastic memories!
