Rally 'Round Aine

 

      Aine is my friend, and she’s been through the worst horror of her life in the past few weeks.  This wasn’t the first time.  Just the first time she called the police.  The first time she told her friends.  Since then it’s been an emotional whirlwind of protective orders, hospital visits, personal police guards, CT/MRI scans and the grief of knowing her husband of 11 years gave her a serious concussion which could have killed her.  Punched 3 times in the temple she was left in the middle of the night with only the help of an SOS button on her phone when she regained consciousness. 

The good news is that she lives in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Some of the best domestic violence laws in the US are in Louisiana.  The law says that in situations like this you are granted an immediate divorce, and punitive damages.  It’s fantastic, except the law doesn’t provide you with a lawyer to defend you in the divorce, or for navigating the punitive damages.

She has a small supportive group of friends who are helping out with day-to-day issues, but what she really needs now is funds for a seasoned lawyer.  She needs financial support to get to the justice promised by Louisiana law and get on with her life.   Get back to the master costumer, historian, and NOLA street dancer that lights up the neighborhood.

Aine needs to raise $3500 to retain her attorney and said attorney is $325 per hour after that.. we have a long way to go.. please help if you can!
