Rally4Gonzalo - Gonzalo Anzurez - Powell, WY
Donation protected
On the morning of 8/1 Gonzalo, his mother Cynthia (Cindy) Anzurez, and two of his sisters, Epsy (9) & Vivian (1.5), were driving home through Powell and had an accident with a street sweeper truck. Thankfully Cynthia and the girls are not hurt, other than a couple bruises on Espy and Cynthia. Gonzalo was life-flighted to Denver Children’s Hospital to receive special care and surgery for the severe injury he suffered.
Gonzalo broke and dislocated his neck at the C4 & C5 vertebrae. The vertebrae pinched and put pressure on his spinal cord. He has been paralyzed in his arms and legs, though has some sensation in shoulder and upper arms. He is able to shrug his shoulders. The possibility for improved mobility in his arms is not known at this time. Gonzalo also has two large lacerations on the top of his head. Luckily, his brain has suffered no permanent injury as far as cognitive tests and CT have been able to tell so far. Gonzalo has a long road ahead of him and will likely be in Denver for several months.
An account will be set up locally. If you are able to donate to that, more of the funds will go to Gonzalo and his family rather than online fees. An update will come in a future post. Thank you for any support you can provide to our family.
