Rally for Charles Dorris: A Veteran's Recovery
Donation protected
On Tues. Nov. 5th Charles Dorris fell down a mine shaft when his equipment somehow failed. He fell 50ft down and sustained a major head injury, broken ribs, skull and facial fractures, as well as a bruised kidney. It took 9 hours between getting him out of the mine and then to St. George Regional Hospital where he had emergency brain surgery. He is currently in the ICU.
Charles is a disabled Vet who served in the Army National Guard and did a tour to Iraq in 2009 with the Charlie Co 1/186, part of the 41st Infantry Brigade. His unit provided convoy security and route clearance to routes along the Jordanian border. He left the guard in 2013.
Charles now lives in Cedar City with his wife Bridget and two girls Trinity and Gracie. His daughter Christina currently lives in the Salt Lake area. His son CJ passed away in 2021.
This family has been through a lot in the years since CJ's passing and now with Charles' fall and injuries, and not to mention the time it will take for him to heal from his surgery and other injuries; as well as PT, OT, and speech therapy, the family and especially Bridget are under a lot of stress and uncertainty, and they need our help.
Charles and Bridget are the first people to help others and give of their time willingly. Charles has always been the biggest support for his family and is their rock. At this time Bridget is splitting her time between the hospital and home to take care of Trinity and Gracie. Traveling back and forth between Cedar City and St. George is not cheap and having to make some changes at their home (railing on front and back stairs), this where your help comes in. If you can donate even a small amount it all adds up. Let's all rally around Charles and Bridget, and the girls and help them out at this time like they have helped so many others. If you can't donate please share this GoFundMe so we can get the word out to everyone we know.
