Rally for Dave Kress's Recovery Journey

Dave Kress went to the hospital December 10 and was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. He was in serious, nonstop pain. No meds were helping.

They removed stones from the bile duct, and he also had a few in the pancreas, so they removed them all. They put in a couple of stents, which will need to be removed in six weeks. He needs surgery to remove the gall bladder over the next week. They had to put that off for a little while. After about a week, they moved him to the ICU unit, where he spent the next almost 30 days. Along the way, he came down with sepsis, and they had to install a breathing tube and a feeding tube. He was transferred out of ICU, and the breathing tube has been replaced with a tracheotomy, which is better. Dave is fragile and still not able to talk. They have not been able to do the two required surgeries he needs at this time; hopefully, that will change in the next couple of weeks. Dave and Carla are going to have astronomical hospital and rehabilitation bills. He could be in the hospital for at least two more months

Dave has necrotizing pancreatitis. It’s gone up a level. Internal bleeding. Continuous fevers. Blot clot in his leg.

We have been trying to get Dave moved since he got here. Either NY or boston. Dave is continuing saying. Get me out of here. Paper work is all done. Images are all sent to Dr. Wolfgang in NYU. The will go over his records and decide if they think that he can help him and he can benefit more from being there. We should hear soon. Then if so, he will be transported downstate.
