A Mother's Battle with Cancer: Rally for Katie.

Hi there,

My name is Katie Lessert. I am 50 years old and married to the love of my life, Mike Lessert. Together we have 5 kids: Burgundy (Austin), Cambree (Wyatt), Braxton (Olivia), Cameron, and Owen, ranging from ages 16 to 25. We have 4 grandbabies: August, Boston, Baylor, and River, whom I am smitten over, as you can imagine.

I have been battling colorectal cancer since 2018. Three years ago, I was given the devastating news that it had returned as terminal cancer. I have been on multiple types of very aggressive chemotherapy for the last three years, literally fighting for my life.

Unfortunately, the cancer has continued to grow and spread throughout both of my lungs. What I have is often referred to as shattered glass. It is very resistant to treatments. But I am still actively fighting for my life. I will never stop fighting for more time with my family.

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING SEVERE PAIN IN MY HIPS. My oncology team thought it was the harsh chemotherapy that I was on for 5 months MOST OF THAT TIME I WAS IN BED. I have been off treatment for 8 weeks now because it had stopped working, and the pain has continued. I am waiting to be accepted into a trial. I had a ct scan a month ago and it did not show spread to my bones. I am scheduled for a pet scan this coming Wednesday. PLEASE PLEASE PRAY THAT IT HAS NOT SPREAD TO MY HIPS! I am being considered for a double lung transplant in Chicago and spread of the cancer most likely will disqualify me.

I need to keep fighting this beast by multiple weekly hyperbaric chamber treatments, 24 supplement protocol unfortunately THESE TREATMENTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE and insurance does not cover them. My family is financially tapped out. DUE TO BEING ON ONE INCOME.

I have worked multiple jobs throughout my adult life. My last job was running a state daycare out of my home. I charged well below the expensive going rates to give back for blessing and to give parents a much needed financial break. After seven years, I had to make the painful decision to close my business as I am not well enough to continue working. I still miss my precious daycare kids daily!

Please understand we would not ask for help unless it was truly needed.

My family has been through so much because of CANCER. A financial break would make huge difference.

I understand that we all go through hard times, and the economy is super tuff. Anything helps, whether it is a donation, prayers, love, your support, or even sharing this on your social media. I will humbly accept it. Myself or a family member will give an update on my pet scan and the transplant as soon as we hear from them.
