Rally for Mercedes: Cover Her Recovery Expenses

On December 26th, Mercedes experienced a terrifying accident while protecting her beloved cat, Crusty, from a foster dog. Crusty escaped unharmed, but Mercedes wasn’t so lucky. The dog latched onto her arm for several agonizing minutes before releasing. She was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, where she underwent surgery to repair the damage. Thankfully, there was no extensive nerve injury, but the road to recovery will still be challenging.

While insurance will cover most of her medical bills, Mercedes is facing significant financial strain. The biggest challenge is her inability to work for several weeks. Between her two part-time jobs at The City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control and The Community Kitchen, she doesn’t have much PTO or vacation benefits to fall back on.

Mercedes dedicates her life to helping others. She feeds those in need, cares for animals that many have given up on, and offers kindness and support to anyone who’s struggling. Now, it’s our turn to show her the same love and generosity she so freely gives.
