Rally for Rangers Mongolia 2021
I'd like to invite you to join me on a very unique journey. An odyssey to protect vast swaths of land containing a unique mix of rare and exotic wildlife, the widest open spaces you can imagine, ancient cultural artifacts and human culture straddling antiquity and modernity: Mongolia. It's the 19th largest country by landmass and 3rd least densely populated. Just under 20% of the land there is protected and patrolled by rangers who are underpaid, poorly equipped, spread way to thin but incredibly passionate and dedicated. In harsh weather they often patrol up to 60 or 70 square miles each, alone and unarmed on foot or horseback. They push back against illegal poaching, logging and mining sometimes with threat of violence. They also serve as educators to local and international tourists, striving to lessen the impact of human activity upon fragile environments.
So this September I return to Mongolia for the 4th time with RallyforRangers.org. Our mission statement: To protect the world's special places one motorcycle at a time. We provide reliable transportation and equipment to men and women working in the farthest reaches of the globe. RallyforRangers.org is a branch of the Mongol Ecology Center. Mongol Ecology Center works to strengthen the management of National Parks of Mongolia.
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit RallyforRangers.org and Mongol Ecology Center, and any donation will help make an impact. The money I raise will purchase one of 15 brand new motorcycles (Yamaha AG200) and fund logistics and staffing to deliver them to 15 Mongolian Rangers in the Eastern Steppe. I will pay my own transportation from the US, take unpaid time off work and ride my "Blue Pony" 1500 miles or so to the rangers who were chosen last year and have patiently endured Pandemic related delays. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Warmly yours,
Lance Machovsky
