Rally for Selma: Hope for the Mendez Family

On Dec 7th, 2024, Selma, 20 yrs old, daughter of Rosalba and Leonard Mendez, was admitted into Simi Valley hospital after having a grand mal seizure. She was coherent and alert the first two days while going through observation and testing. On day 3, she slowly started to lose all cognitive function and started a rapid decline. On December 15th, 2024, she was transferred to Ronald Reagan UCLA Hospital. We knew this would be the best place for her and for the family to get more answers. She was intubated on December 22nd and has been in ICU since. UCLA doctors have diagnosed Selma with NMDA encephalitis. The road ahead is uncertain and a long one. Rose has not left her daughter’s side and has been unable to work. I'm starting this GoFundMe to have any monetary donation sent directly to them to help with food, bills, etc. Rose and Leonard have two other children at home as well, Emiliano and Reana. This family is the most KIND, LOVING, and WONDERFUL families I’ve ever known. I know this is the last thing they would ever ask for.
