Rally for Tomeka: Fight Stage 4 Breast Cancer

This January, at just 48 years old, my wife Tomeka received devastating news—she has once again been diagnosed with breast cancer. This time, it’s Stage 4 invasive lobular carcinoma, that has spread to tumorous locations in her breast, armpit, neck and 4th rib bone. As mentioned, Tomeka is already a breast cancer survivor who opted for a double mastectomy and oophorectomy in 2019 to minimize the risk of being re-diagnosed with the disease. So, as you can imagine, this diagnosis has turned our world upside down.

If you really know Tomeka, you know she is a force of nature—fiery, bold, and unapologetically herself. She is a woman who loves loudly, fights fiercely, and refuses to back down from anyone or anything – cancer is no exception.

Tomeka is currently receiving treatment at Confluence Medical Center in Wenatchee, WA. It took time to stage the cancer properly, but from the moment we heard the words “Stage 4,” we made one thing clear—we are not interested in a passive approach. Pitch forks in hand, we are ready to fight!

Her doctors have proposed the following initial treatment plan:

• Pill based Estrogen blockers (she is BRCA2 +)

• Pill-based chemotherapy (to mitigate metastasis)

• Targeted radiation (our request- to minimize pain and to shrink the largest tumors in her lymph nodes)

But here’s the thing—this is not good enough! Tomeka is a fighter, and this conservative approach does not align with her warrior mentality. We will not settle, and we refuse to let this disease dictate the terms of her future.

We are actively seeking second opinions from leading breast cancer specialists across the country, exploring every possible clinical trial, researching cutting edge technologies, and diving into holistic and alternative therapies to give her the best fighting chance.

Fighting this disease will require exhausting every option, but pursuing advanced treatments, second opinions, and holistic therapies come at a significant financial cost. That’s why I am launching this GoFundMe—to ensure Tomeka gets every chance she deserves to win this battle.

Donations will help cover, but are not limited to:

• Out-of-pocket costs not covered by insurance

• IV infusion therapy

• Hyperbaric therapy

• Cancer Healing Retreat

• Travel and accommodation for treatment consultations and/or clinical trials

Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover a portion of the total burden of cost, ensuring Tomeka can focus entirely on her health, treatment, and recovery—without the added stress of running her business full time to keep up with these expenses.

Tomeka is a grandmother, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a friend, and the love of my life. If you truly know her, you know that she is always prepared to be there for others, literally without question or hesitation. She is the kind of person who will give you the shirt off her back but also tells you exactly what she thinks—no sugarcoating (I know from experience). Tomeka is a protector, a fighter, a nurturer with a heart too big for this world but she now needs help.
