Rally for Ali - Fight with Cancer

Donation protected

On November 26th, 2022, we lost our sweet Ali Oakey — after 11 months of fighting a rare metaplastic breast cancer.

She will be survived by her almost two-year-old son (Arlo), husband (Daniel), as well as her momma bear (Denise), papa bear (Bruce), and brothers (Rob & Ben). Not to mention the chosen family of her life: all her incredible friends.

Let us honor her life, her laugh, her light - ability to fill a room, her wittiness and jokes, her selflessness, her open ears and accepting heart. Let us revere her tenacity and grit she had navigating treatment, a full-time job, being a mom, a wife, and the greatest of friend.

We all know her ask to us is take that chance (“do it, dare you”), to never miss out, and love hard. And she would tell us to stop crying, to celebrate the memories we had, and to please take care of my boys.

You all have done so much for her already, her family cannot thank you enough. If you feel capable and willing to give, please do so for Arlo and Daniel.
  • Help keep Christmas Ali’s favorite season of all — she would have turned 33 on Christmas Day and Arlo turning 2-years-old just two days before. Let’s bring the magic of Christmas right to their front door.
  • Help contribute to the life she and Daniel want for Arlo.
  • Help by sending strength to her friends and family with the gap they will feel in their lives with her missing.
  • Other ways to contribute: Send a Meal Train

And don’t forget to CHECK YOURSELF & OFTEN.

EARLY NOVEMBER 2022 UPDATE:
Their fight is still continuing and needs more support than anticipated - her cancer was discovered to be more rare and aggressive than originally thought.

Please respect Ali and Daniel's privacy at this time. Please do not ask for updates until they are ready to disclose.

JANUARY 2022 GRATITUDE:
Thank you so much for everything. For your words, your donations, your support, you being there in any way to help Ali and Daniel (Arlo too!). Ali and Daniel are so incredibly appreciative and thankful for every single one of you.

THE STORY:
They say as you get older, birthdays aren’t as celebrated. That they become another day in the year. That’s what Ali was planning for her 32nd birthday.

Ali is a new mom to her and Daniel’s wonderful 1-year-old son, Arlo. Ali and Daniel work incredibly hard every day to make a beautiful life for Arlo. And as Arlo grows, so does the family’s collective excitement and joy to have another sibling join him soon.

If you know Ali, she is the most loyal friend you will have in your life. She follows through in everything she says and more, she brings positivity into every room and keeps the party going — she rallies behind you and supports you everyday, no matter if it’s if you want fries for lunch or if you want to change careers.

And this wonderful friend, sister, mother, daughter, colleague, neighbor of ours needs our rallies in return, more than ever before.

On Ali’s 32nd birthday, she received the news no young mom wants to receive. After years of routine lump checks that turn negative, Ali was waiting for the same news that month. Instead, she got the phone call that not only were the three lumps her doctor found were cancerous, but also traveled to one of her lymph nodes diagnosing stage 3 breast cancer.

Now, Ali spends her days fighting something she never thought she’d have to battle at this age. We all know she has the strength for this (she carries Arlo and Red Bull coolers on a daily). But your extra strength will help immensely.

Rally the way Ali rallies - in any way you can.

Pray for strength, peace, and understanding. Pray for Ali and her family. Proclaim courage and resilience over her.

Give financially to enable the utmost care for Ali as she goes through chemo, radiation, and surgery - and her to focus on her treatment while your contribution can help future treatments and cancer maintenance.

Let’s rally for Ali.

FUNDS WILL DIRECTLY IMPACT:
- Offsetting out-of-pocket costs for her treatment
- Family wellbeing, including child care during long chemo days and for when Daniel works full-time and has fatherly duties
- Ali’s comfort, including food for the family, a wig, and comfies needed for this fight
- Any potential follow-up care that the Oakey family may need to charge ahead into life and do great things, such as maintenance chemo and other treatments that the chemo has long term affected her body
