Local citizen Rex Ge has lost his livelihood because of a hydro bill of $364.00 which was over due 28 days from due date or 47 days from charge date. The bill- current charges as of 01/09/2015, due date 01/28/2015. Hydro service provider Niagara Peninsula Energy has been unduly harsh with this man's life. It can, because it is allowed to.
The customer service agreement, and its protocols, allows this hydro company from implementing any commonsense or accountabilty enablilng them to literally ruin someones life. There is supposed to be a process before any account is disconnected which takes into consideration the account's payment history and the amount involved, according to a company spokesperson. Despite this, they cut off power to a greenhouse in the coldest February on record when this account had an excellent payment history. Rex Ge, owner of G & L Nurseries in West Lincoln had his hydro turned off while he was visiting his ailing elderly parents in China, causing catastrophic damages to his greenhouse operation including plants, watering systems, boiler and heating systems. All of which needs to be replaced. Replacement costs are estimated at over $150,000. The disconnection notice was placed in a rural mailbox while Rex and his wife were away.
With no insurance monies to cover these losses, we are asking the community to aid and help with some of these losses, estimated at about $150,000-plus. A service technician estimated the boiler replacement at $70,000.00.
Rex went back to China to see his ailing parents, only to come home to this tragedy. Rex had never been late on his hydro bills and yet his livelihood has been taken from him and his wife over one late payment of $364.00
Please "Rally for Rex" so he can continue to serve his customers.
